What is the UpLinc App?

UpLinc is Lincoln Electric’s new internal communication solution to provide convenient options to access company news and information. UpLinc can deliver news to either a work device or to your personal devices – whether a smartphone, tablet or computer. This will allow you to stay informed and engage with leadership and colleagues remotely. News and company updates will continue to be offered on the Company’s intranet, GlobalLinc.

Should I enable push notifications?

While not required, we recommend that you allow push notifications. This allows the UpLinc platform to send you short messages that highlight important new communications and reminders if there are upcoming events or sign-up deadlines.

Do I have to use UpLinc?

No. The use of UpLinc is voluntary and it is not required for you to complete your job duties or responsibilities. For those interested in mobile access to company news and information, we encourage you to give it a try.

Can I contribute to UpLinc?

Yes – we want you to engage with UpLinc and be part of the conversation. At launch, you will be able to interact with content with likes and comments. In the future, we will be adding new channels and opportunities for you to post stories and photos directly onto UpLinc yourself.

What do I need to do to register and create my UpLinc account?

Once you download the app or go to the Internet portal to register, you will either use your existing Lincoln Electric user name and password (if you have one), or you will be prompted to create your own user name and password to use on UpLinc. If creating your own user name and password, there is a second step to the registration that will ask for your family name and birth date.

Will downloading UpLinc give Lincoln Electric access to my personal information and data on my phone?

No, Lincoln Electric will not have access to other data on your phone outside of the app. The company will not be able to monitor your location or activities.

Why do I need to download “FirstUp” to get UpLinc?

FirstUp is the application that powers the UpLinc communications platform. You need to download “FirstUp” to get access and use UpLinc.

Will my participation be anonymous?

The system tracks activity but reports at the aggregated level, so personal details are not disclosed. Metrics are used to help the communication team improve your experience through preferred story types and formats.

If you add a ‘like’ or a comment to a story, your name will be posted alongside your feedback.

Who is Social Chorus?

SocialChorus is the developer of the FirstUp application that powers UpLinc.

Once you have created your account and successfully entered into the UpLinc platform, you will be able to consult a full UpLinc platform privacy notice, which will outline how we process your personal data in the context of your use of UpLinc.

Can I access UpLinc while at work?

Safety and your work deliverables should always come first while at work. Please ensure you are following facility rules for where and when you are able to access a mobile device.

Will I get compensated for the time or data I use while on UpLinc?

No, using UpLinc is voluntary, and news and company updates will continue to be offered on the Company’s intranet, GlobalLinc.

How much does it cost to get UpLinc?

UpLinc is free to download and use for Lincoln Electric employees. Data rates may apply for employees who use the mobile app on their personal devices. We recommend that employees use WIFI to avoid data rates.

What if I have a problem using the UpLinc app?

What should I do if I forgot my password?

Click the "Forgot your password?" link on the sign-in page. You will be asked to complete the user verification questions again (your family name and date of birth). If correct, you will be able to set up a new password.
